The best place to stay before your trip is at a hotel in Wellsboro, PA. During my visit, I was invited to stay at the Canyon Motel. There are water pumps along the Pine Creek Trail to refill your water bottles and comfort stations(pit toilets) every few miles, but were very clean. However, if you have time, its much easier to drive to this handicapped-accessible overlook. My only issue was lack of water availability on the trail. We rode 44 miles of this trail (Ansonia to Waterville). Arrived at Slate Run at 5:22 Pm over the entire trip we averaged 9.8 mph rode a total 118.29 miles and were on our bikes for 12 hours 11 min. Horseback riding is allowed next to the trail but signs are posted for biking and horseback riding to keep horses off bike trail. We will be returning to explore the other 51 miles of the trail. There are numerous gates before and after intersections that slow your progress but do not require you to dismount. The lowest can be seen from the trail, and the last and tallest of the three can be seen by hiking less than half a mile up the trail.
